The Chief Electoral Officer - Kerala leads the election machinery in the state. The statutory post of Chief Electoral Officer is chosen through collaboration between the Election Commission of India and the concerned State Government under section 13A of the Representation of Peoples Act 1950.

The Chief Electoral Officer, operating under the authority and oversight of the Election Commission of India, will oversee the compilation and updating of Electoral Rolls, as well as the execution of Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assembly elections within the state. He will be tasked with guaranteeing the fair and equitable conduct of elections, with utmost integrity.
